SkateStart Level 1
Come learn the basics of skateboarding through this special SkateStart Level 1 camp at Railbender Park. This program is geared toward beginning skateboarders ages 4 years-old and up, or those who have never tried the sport and want to test it out.
What Kids Will Learn
Using the unique SkateStart skateboard (provided at the camp) you will learn how to push and roll the skateboard using proper technique and foot placement.
Watch your confidence soar and enjoy learning how to skate with proper form and equipment! Once you’ve completed Level 1, your young skater can participate in the longer, more advanced SkateCamps.
Required Equipment
Campers are required to bring a helmet, water, snack, and sunscreen; we provide the board! Pads are not required but highly encouraged. Please wear appropriate shoes; no open toed shoes or Crocs. We will meet at the Railbender pavilion to start. Be ready to learn and have a lot of fun! You will leave with a SkateStart certificate and be on your way to more advanced skate camps!
SkateStart SkateCamp
Join Parker Recreation at Railbender Park for a fun skateboard camp! With over 20 years of skateboard experience and a background that includes instructing campers such as Ryan Sheckler and Riley Hawk, you can be assured you’ll receive the best instruction in a safe environment.
What Kids Will Learn
Campers ages 6 to 14 will learn everything from the basics to dropping in on the big bowl. Other activities include skateboard assembly, building an obstacle, proper pad usage, sharks and skaters, treasure hunt, and games of s.k.a.t.e. There may be one day when we skate off premise; parents and guardians will be informed if this occurs. Please remember, the park is a public park so there will be other non-campers skateboarding.
Required Attire
Campers are required to bring a skateboard, helmet, water, snack, and sunscreen. Pads are not required but highly encouraged. Please wear appropriate shoes; no open toed shoes or crocs.
