Bring the family for the Arbor Day Celebration from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 29! Because our parks are beautifully and sufficiently planted, Parker Parks and Recreation will be celebrating by giving out free seedling trees at the new Discovery Park, 20115 E. Mainstreet in Parker. Stop by the arborist table and meet the Town’s Parks and Forestry Team, who can answer questions about tree planting, pruning and tree selection. Kids will enjoy a fun activity courtesy of Douglas County Libraries. Participants can also enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast!
Arbor Day is a fun, educational event for the whole family and is an important piece to keeping Parker named as a “Tree City USA.” The Tree City USA® program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters. Parker has been named as a Tree City USA for each of the last 24 years! In order to maintain this title, a commitment must be made to enhance the public’s awareness of trees within the community through events and educational opportunities such as the annual Arbor Day Celebration. The Town must also spend at least $2 per resident on tree care such as planting and pruning.
Please remember that as there will be no digging this year, there’s no need to pack your shovels. Seedling trees, refreshments and giveaways will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
